Conversation with Stephen Johnston at Looking Forward
on clustering, the Bay Area, and longevity hubs in Japan
Friends - I am happy to share a conversation with
on some topics near and dear to my heart: clustering; why I’m bullish the San Francisco Bay Area; and longevity hubs in Japan. That conversation appeared in Stephen’s Looking Forward newsletter (LF50) and I’m delighted to link to it here.Credit where credit is due, in chronological order:
In August 2022, I wrote about clustering in Japan, which led to contributing a chapter on longevity hubs in Japan to an upcoming book by the team at MIT AgeLab. So, gratitude to
and, of course, to Joseph Coughlin and Luke Yoquinto at MIT AgeLab for reaching out.Alan Chan, Haas MBA 2023, was a student in my fall 2022 Clusters class and with a team of classmates developed a cluster augmentation plan for his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Alan just graduated with his MBA and is now co-founder and CEO at Comenta Care, which is a startup working on easing the burden of dementia care at home. Early this year, Alan put me in touch with Stephen, formerly with Aging 2.0., who as of April 2023 is off to a new adventure as Fellow, Healthy Longevity at Sompo Digital. Sompo itself a firm that is consistently looking forward so this looks like a good philosophical match!
With that, on to the conversation.
